Last night I got a text saying that my Christmas gig has been cancelled. I was counting on the money for bills, as I am also off of my nanny job for a few weeks. I was really bummed at first, and started thinking about all of the crappy things that have happened in 2018, and was ready to say it was a bad year, but then I started to count my blessings.
At the beginning of 2018 I had up to 4 jobs at a time to pay the bills. I truly enjoyed what I was doing, but I didn’t have time to be on stage. My boss was on maternity leave, so I had some more time to myself and managed to get into a good nutrition routine and exercise routine, jumpstarting my weight loss.
I had many new performances opportunities this year. My friends Lydia, Chris and I got to form a small band and perform at the Stamford Nature Center for the Maple Sugar Festival. It was a lot of fun.

I got on stage again as a citizen of Metropolis in Its a Bird, is a plane, it’s Superman; The Musical. I sang a few concerts with The New Choral Society, and was also in A Charlie Brown Christmas (Lucy).
During the rehearsal process for Superman, my boss decided to not go back to work full-time, so I needed to find a different job path. The first few jobs I tried were not good fits/too much juggling. I spent a few weeks unemployed, but during that time I had planned company, so I actually got to enjoy the time with my Grandparents and Parents.

While my Grandparents were visiting I interviewed for the job that I currently have, and this job has been the answer to some serious prayers. The family is amazing, I am caring for one happy baby and the hours allow me to do theater again on a more consistent basis. I look forward to going to work!
Steve and I moved into a new apartment a few months ago, it wasn’t cheap to do so, but it has also been worth it. We have an amazing landlord, and it’s nice to finally feel comfortable in our own home.
So instead of being down about the money struggle of 2018, I am going to pay what I can with what I have, and continue to be thankful for the good times that 2018 has thrown my way!
