Dona Nobis Pacem

The other day when I was rocking the baby to sleep this little phrase popped into my head, and then the melody that I learned back in kindergarten. It means “give us peace” and this is something we can use right now.

We are over a year into this global pandemic, and it seems like violence is spiking all over the place. It has always been there, but seems extra prevalent now that we are home more and likely paying closer attention. At least that is how it is for me.

As I sit in my little routine of going to work, home, watching tv, and scrolling, I feel like I see more about violence than a few years ago. Social media used to be a place to see our friends having the best time, and now it’s a place where everyone is sharing their opinions and sharing all of the horrific news stories daily.

Its great that people are talking about what’s wrong with the world, but I do miss seeing some of what’s going well in the world, so I am going to put a project out into the social media world that talks about peace, but make it fun/educational for tiny humans.

At the beginning of the covid shut downs I started a storytime instagram page, and now this little phrase/song is my next video project. I was going to make it a simple project, but now have hired my friend that has a princess party business to help out. I feel like kiddos seeing a princess talk about peace will resonate well.

Working with kiddos during all of this has been tricky. Finding ways to talk to them about current events without scaring the crap out of them is tricky. I am choosing to teach tiny humans about kindness and caring for their fellow humans and getting them singing about peace. Maybe their little voices will help…maybe…

I am publicly setting a deadline for this video…ok to all 5 of you that read this blog…of 4/13/2021 so be on the lookout for it. If you don’t see it on or before then, please yell at me.
